With new competitions, venues reaching capacity and an ever-growing representative scene, TRL is growing at a rapid rate in Sydney.
In the Eastern Suburbs of Sydney, the Thursday’s @ Daceyville competition has reached capacity in only its second season at David Phillips Fields, University of New South Wales.
Jordan Puddick is a name synonymous with Touch Rugby League in East Sydney and he is absolutely loving the growth of the competitions.
“I love the rules of TRL and it is great to see so many new faces and teams down at Daceyville”.
Not since Jim Dymock (former Canterbury Bulldogs legend) have we seen a big unit with such silky ball-skills.
On Sunday afternoons it’s a relaxed vibe in Sydney’s picturesque Centennial Parklands, after a morning of smashed avocado and $5 coffee, of course.
The TRL East Sydney competitions are proudly supported by The Phoenix Woollahra, with a $100 bar tab for winning teams, and F45 Double Bay.
Steven Matthews from the Manly Chargers, selected for the 2017 NSW Men’s State of Origin side, says he’s “excited at the opportunity to promote a growing sport amongst a passionate group of active people in the Northern Beaches area.”
Cronulla, the stars of the TRL Sydney representative scene, were crowned 2017 Men’s and Mixed NSW State Champions after they went back-to-back and took out the double in July at Moore Park West, against the backdrop of Allianz Stadium and the SCG.
They recently travelled to Queensland for the Australian Championships, finishing an admirable 6th overall in Mixed, setting up a Quarter Final clash against the South Brisbane Warriors.
The new Cronulla competition, which kicked off on Wednesday 18 October, already boasts new sponsors Grill’d and The Como Hotel.
A brand new TRL location will also be announced shortly in Sydney’s inner-west, Strathfield.
