2023 ALARA CHARITY DAY

A huge congratulations to everyone who participated in the 2023 ALARA Charity Day at Gibson Park, Stafford. It was a tremendous day played in true TRL spirit! The Day itself was able to raise over $3,000 in cash and contra that ALARA QLD Ltd will directly benefit from. A big thanks to ALARA QLD, Take a Seat Project, KRP (KROPP SPORT) and Creative Butter the Gibson Park Committee.

In total, 18 teams took to the field including both the ALARA TRL team and the Take a Seat team who both faced off in an exhibition match to kickstart the day. It was a close game that kept veteran referee, Jake Carr, on his toes. ALARA showed their experience and TRL-nous (they play every Monday evening in Ipswich) and eventually prevailed 5-2 against a spirited Take a Seat team.

In terms of the competition itself, teams flocked in from all over South East Queensland to participate (there was also a player from the Take a Seat team that travelled all the way down from Bundaberg). There were plenty of tightly contested games but all played with a laugh and it truly was a great day out in the Autumn sunshine!

In the Men’s competition, “Kicked Down in Dallas” were the eventual winners. The lads from East Brisbane and Wynnum/Redlands played a fantastic brand of TRL and no doubt will be brimming with confidence leading into the three big representative Events in the coming months.

For the Mixed competition, the Logan Lakers were just too good…they did not completely have it all their own way but the juggernaut continues to roll on. This Club obviously produces some great players and teams but they also handle themselves with grace and humility on and off the field. Well done.

Finally, the donation (mentioned above) also includes a $500 uniform voucher from KRP (approved apparel provider) which TRL and KRP have contributed to. Jordan Kropp, CEO of KRP, had this to say:

“It is always great to give back to the TRL community. Like TRL, KRP is an inclusive Organisation and we are thrilled to be able to kit this team out in something special going forward.”

That wraps things up for 2023. We will see you all back in 2024 to do it all again.
