TRL partners with Small Steps 4 Hannah Foundation
On February 19, 2020, Hannah Clarke and her three children Aaliyah, 6, Laianah, 4, and Trey, 3, lost their lives as a result of domestic violence. Small Steps 4 Hannah has been set up by the Clarke Family to honour their memories. The 2022 Australian Championships will see TRL Australia partner with Small Steps 4 Hannah to drive awareness in the quest to help HALT domestic and family violence. This will be the start of a long partnership between the two Organisations and Tom Longworth, TRL Australia’s Managing Director believes raising awareness for such a devastating societal issue is critical.
“Over 2 million Australians have experienced physical and/or sexual violence from a partner. This is a shocking statistic and alarmingly, it is on the rise.”
Aside from driving awareness in the quest to help HALT domestic and family violence, the Foundation is also raising funds to build 9 residences in Brisbane to house families for up to 12 months to help get them back on their feet; and, assists individuals directly with employment support as well as helping financially contribute to much needed support services. The Foundation has three chief fund-raising Events per year including the International Men’s Day Event (November 4, 2022) as well as an International Women’s Day Event and Gala Ball.
Donations can also be made at any time to the Foundation through their website.
Carrie Siipola-Fortunaso from Small Steps 4 Hannah was excited about forging a long-term partnership with TRL given the number of people that play our sport and who are part of the TRL community.
“We really appreciate everything TRL is doing to help our cause. Awareness is key to making a change. Visit our website, educate yourself and educate others.”
