QLD State Championships (inc. The AA Earthworks & Haulage City v Country Series) 2024

In partnership with Major Events Gold Coast, TRL Australia will be bringing the 2024 QLD State Championships (and City v Country Championships) to the Gold Coast. See below for all key details.

Competition Information

General

  • All divisions will have 7 rounds + Finals (some sides will have a BYE depending on the make-up of the division).
  • Only registered players may participate.
  • Game-slots will run for 30 minutes (including 2 x 13 minute halves).
  • Unique rules: Kick-tries will be worth 2 points. 6 on the field for Mixed (3 men, 3 women).

Men’s QPL:
There is 1 pool, the Finals Series will be as follows:
  • The top four highest-ranked teams will play off in the Semi Finals 1v4 & 2v3.
Men’s Cup:
There is 1 pool, the Finals Series will be as follows:
  • The top four highest-ranked teams across each pool will play off in the Semi Finals 1v4 & 2v3.
Men’s Plate:
There is 1 pool, the Finals Series will be as follows:
  • The top four highest-ranked teams will play off in the Semi Finals 1v4 & 2v3.
  • Men’s 30s teams are included in this format i.e. they will not play in their own Finals Series.
Mixed QPL & Cup:
There are 2 pools, the Finals Series will be split as follows:
 
QPL: 
  • Top of each pool plus the highest ranking (on points) second placed team across the pools will make up the QPL Division. 
  • Semi Finals will be 1v4 and 2v3 with these rankings based on total points accumulated through the rounds. 
  • In the case of even points, the team with the highest For and Against will be given the higher ranking. 
Cup: 
  • The remaining two second placed teams in the pools plus the two highest ranking (on points) third placed teams will make up the Cup Division. 
  • Semi Finals will be 1v4 and 2v3 with these rankings based on total points accumulated through the rounds. 
  • In the case of even points, the team with the highest For and Against will be given the higher ranking. 
Mixed Plate:
There is 1 pool, the Finals Series will be split as follows:
  • The top four highest-ranked teams will play off in the Semi Finals 1v4 & 2v3.
  • Mixed 30s Teams will not be included in this format i.e. they will play their own Finals Series – Semi Finals 2v3, 1 goes straight through to the Grand Final and will play the winner.
Women’s QPL & Cup:
There is 1 pool, the Finals Series will be split as follows:

QPL: 
  • Top in the pool plus the highest ranking (on points) second placed team in the pool will make up the QPL Division. 
  • Semi Finals will be 1v4 and 2v3 with these rankings based on total points accumulated through the rounds. 
  • In the case of even points, the team with the highest For and Against will be given the higher ranking.

  • The remaining two second placed teams in the pool  plus the two highest ranking (on points) third placed teams will make up the Cup Division.

Other

  • Food: We will have two food trucks on site for the majority of the Tournament.
  • Tents/marquees: Must be secured with weights (no pegs allowed).
  • Alcohol: Under no circumstances can alcohol be brought into the venue, and it may only be consumed in our licensed area. Any player found with alcohol risks being banned from the Tournament and their team incurring a penalty.
  • Merchandise Tent: This will be open, timing TBA.
